The Team at TBD is an eclectic bunch with a mix of talents and passions. Some at the forefront of digital developments, interrogating the latest e-commerce systems, developing stunning front-end work, experimenting with SEO, while others busy themselves researching brands, unusual print stocks, production techniques and the finer detail of loops, strokes and tails.

The agency is led by a dedicated and driven management team with a complementary mix of experience, knowledge and backgrounds. The combination of creative skills, combined with commercial integrity throughout the business has allowed for the strategic development and growth of Thought by Design, delivering YOY growth of +50%.

Simon Haynes

Founder and Managing Director

Thought by Design was born out of Simon’s desire and passion to solve creative communication problems. By identifying the difference in a brand and the style in which it needs to be communicated, it ensures the delivery of intelligent, striking designs that have meaning, value and relevance.

Sarah Haynes

Commercial Director

Sarah brings a balance to the business, ensuring that while campaigns deliver creatively, they also have real commercial impact. Sarah’s grounding comes from historic director roles at PR & Marketing agencies – always measured on results and delivery, as well as a calculated return on investment.

Claire Elworthy

Creative Director

Advertising, direct response, shopper marketing, sales promotion, brand activation programmes – Claire has a over 16 years experience in integrated campaigns across every media. A highly awarded Creative Director, her approach to creative challenges is insight led. She likes to understand mindsets and motivations and create something that will really resonate, in whatever blend of channels will really permeate.

Emma Turner is a senior communicator with over eleven years experience within the Public Relations sector.    Emma has worked in some of London's leading agencies developing and leading strategic campaigns for iconic brands such as Heineken, Energizer, Bird's Eye, Wall's, Green & Black's, Teacher's Whisky, Kettle Chips and Wines of Rioja.

Senior Creative

An impressive artistic background saw Anna attend the prestigious Central St. Martin's School of Art, Winchester College of Art and enter the esteemed BP Portrait Awards at the National Portrait Gallery.

With a keen interest in illustration, Anna brings a real creative flair to the team. She delivers high impact, concept driven designs with stunning creativity – ensuring a finished product that engages with the end user and has real commercial impact and standout.

Kate Winthrop

Social Media Specialist

Kate is Thought by Design's newly appointed in-house Social Media Developer. With a clear understanding of social platforms, user trends, and the benefits to business, developing social media strategies and copywriting blogs for clients, Kate brings an additional dimension to the TBD team. She has worked primarily in the retail sector and looks forward to the exciting new challenges the TBD client portfolio brings.

As well as focussing on developing and integrating social media strategies, she will also be driving marketing and PR campaigns for TBD to consolidate the profile and grow the reach that the name already has in the industry.

Katherine Ritchie

Strategic and tactical marketing

Katherine is a B2B specialist with proven experience of providing strategic marketing guidance and tactical implementation to a wide range of sectors including professional services, property, insurance, investment management and market institutions. She has extensive knowledge and practical experience of all aspects of the marketing, communications and PR mix gained via senior marketing roles in the B2B sector and more recently, via her consultancy practice.

David Bartholomew

Marketing & Brand Planner

David Bartholomew is a senior marketing professional with over 20 years experience in strategic planning and brand development across the whole marketing mix. He specialises in working with financial services clients and brings a wealth of knowledge to the Thought by Design team, having held senior global marketing positions with several leading financial institutions, including HSBC, Norwich Union and Aviva.
